Organic flocculants are widely used for many waste water, drinking water, polluted liquids treatment. Also dewatering of variuous sludges is almost impossible without flocculants usage.Flocculants can be solid or liquid.
Normally flocculants are used in variuous applications.

Demulsifiers

Oil separation by gravity plays important role in ports or oil

refineries. Heated tower separators are usually used. When oil emulsion is stable even after long time heating it is difficult to achieve good results: oil separation is poor and oil fraction contains a lot of water. After addition selected emulsion breaker, gravity separation goes much more quickly and efficiently.

Coagulants

Demulsifiers

• Meat

Waste water generated from meat processing factories normally has high fat, BOD, COD, suspended solidsmany cases is too polluted to discharge directly to biological treatment. Meat production factories sometimes has own slaughterhouse which adds even more organic pollutants in common effluent.

Physico-chemical treatment often is used for primary treatment of meat factory effluent. Effluent from factory is gathered to pumping station (big waste before it is removed using various screens) where it is equalized that constant quantity of pollutants will be pumped to treatment equipment.

As treatment equipment often are used flotators or (in case fat is removed earlier by grease/fat remover) sedimentation tanks. Most common are flotators as they remove pollutants very effective and quickly.

For meat factory effluent primary treatment can be used alone or combinations of following reagents:

• Coagulants – organic cationic or non organic metal salt coagulants as coagulation aid.

• Flocculants – special brands of cationic or anionic polyacrilamydes that are perfectly soluble and have no lumps. Flocculants sticks coagulated particles onto surface making bigger flocs and thus helps to remove pollutants quickly.

• Bentonite clays -specially activated types of bentonite for high polluted effluents.

Coagulation quality depends on effluent pH. Organic coagulants and flocculants are effective over wide range of pH 2-10, but non-organic coagulants are best effective when pH is close to 7. It means that often pH adjustment is necessary before non-organic coagulants usage. As coagulants bentonite clays can be used very effective. Bentonite clays are effective over wide range of pH . In comparison with metal salt coagulants bentonite is quite safe for human health.

• Fish

Service for chemical industry

Chemical industry effluent requires very carefull laboratory analysis. Normally effluent is primary treated and then let tcity’s network. In some cases additional biological treatment is required.

Chemical industry effluent normally has high BOD/COD, P, heavy metals, other dangerous chemical substances, which are neccessary to remove before discharge to city’s network. For primary treatment flotation or sedimentation is used combining these methods with variuous water treatment chemicals, which first must be tested in laboratory for efectiveness and doses. Primary treatment can remove approximately 50-70% of pollutants. If there is only biological treatment without primary treatment such system is very sensitive. When biological treatment is not effective it is possible to use variuous bacteria products than can intensify biological process.
